The Gokyo Lake Trekking is measured as an alternative trek to the traditional Everest Base Camp trek that offers magnificent view of the mountain peaks and Ngozumpa Glacier the largest in the Nepal Himalayas. The image of this region is associated with the high views of the most popular mountains in Nepal, at an altitude of 8000m such as Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu which are clearly visible from Gokyo Ri above Gokyo Lake. One of the most remarkable features is the view of the incredible ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung (2922m) located in Khumbu region. After 30 minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla airport, the adventure really begins.

We spend the next few days trekking and interacting amongst the mountain people also known as Sherpa’s we stay at local lodges and trek into the heartland of their villages. Everything is organized in conjunction with local Sherpa guides. The Gokyo is a land of high altitude lakes. The final destination of Gokyo lake Trekking is Gokyo Lake and Gokyo Ri Peak. Gokyo Ri is the closest point to observe the Mount Everest. This Gokyo Lake Trekking explores around the wonderful Gokyo. The Gokyo Lake Trekking takes us through passionate and panoramic villages of stone houses and walled pastures on the shores of Gokyo Lake.


We will meet at Kathmandu airport, welcome and transferred to hotel by private tourist vehicle. Evening explore local market nearby hotel.

Sightseeing trip will start at 9AM in the morning after breakfast. We will provide a private vehicle and professional city guide. So we will visit World heritage sights including Pasupatinath temple, Buddhanath, Shyambhunath and Kathmandu durbar square. The evening includes a final briefing and preparations for Gokyo lake trek. 

After breakfast, we get transferred to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport for an early morning flight to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft), a gateway destination from where our trek starts. After an adventurous 35 minute flight above breathtaking green and white mountains, we reach the Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla. This is one of the most beautiful air routes in the world culminating in a dramatic landing on a hillside surrounded by high mountains peaks. Here we meet our other crew members and after some packing and arrangements, we start our trek through the prosperous village of Lukla until we reach Phakding. To assist in acclimatization, we only have a short hike today. However, if interested in additional activities we can take a side trip to a nearby monastery. Overnight at Phakding.

Breakfast in the morning we then hike to Namche Bazaar, it is known as the Gateway to Everest, there are many good hotels and lodges here, along the whole Everest trail this is quite a big village.

We will spend a day here in order to acclimatize and adjust to the thinning of the air. A short trek to a museum celebrating the traditional customs of the Sherpa people. Today we hike up the Syangboche Airport, and around Everest View Hotel. From this point, we have rewarding views of the Himalayas with a stunning sunrise or sunset over the panorama of the Khumbu peaks.

Today, the trail climbs steeply out of valley through rhododendron forest, juniper and large conifers start to appear as the elevation increases making trekking beautiful in spring. The trail passes through Yak Kharkas and summer settlements. The views of Khumbi La and Tawache are magnificent through out the day.

The trail climbs a ridge for an excellent view both down the valley to Kengtega and up towards Cho Oyu and descend to a river and again climbs steep to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier and we will reach at Machherma by early noon.

Today the trek takes us at one of our final destination, Gokyo (4790m). We will make this as base camp for 3 nights as we will have sightseeing trips around Gokyo.

Today, early in the morning we have steep climb up to the top of Gokyo Ri at elevation of 5483 meters, ample rewards to anyone that attempts this trip. There are stunning views of the supper Gokyo valley, the massive Ngozumpa Glacier and an incredible panoramic view of the whole Khumbu Himalayas, such as giants as Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and Gychung Kang can be seen. Those who explore the glacier and Gokyo peak are rewarded. This day we have for acclimatization and afternoon back to the camp.

Following same trail down, we will make our descent to Dole.

Descend to Namche Bazaar via typical Sherpa village of Khumjung. Leaving the mountains behind us our descent continues back to the town of Namche Bazaar at elevation of 3,441meters.

Finally we return to Lukla where our trekking trip begin, which seems a lifetime ago. Enjoying time to reflect on the trek as a group and the personal achievement of all those who took part.

An early morning 35 minute scenic flight back to Kathmandu provides time to reflect upon the mountains you have recently visited for one last time. 

Leisure day in Kathmandu and free for shopping. Evening we will have Nepali dinner party with traditional restaurant.

We will transfer you to Kathmandu airport for your home destination with the beautiful memory of Nepal Himalaya.
