Route Overview

The Everest Explore Helicopter Tour, with landings at Kala Patthar, begins early in the morning from Kathmandu Domestic Airport, where all passengers board a high-altitude helicopter for a scenic domestic flight toward the Himalayas. The first leg of the journey takes you over the lush hills and terraced villages of eastern Nepal before getting to Lukla (2860 m). The gateway to Mt. Everest for the short refueling stop. The helicopter ascends through the Khumbu Valley, flying above iconic Sherpa settlements like Namche Bazaar and Tengboche monastery, offering magnificent aerial views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. Depending on the chosen option, the helicopter either flies over or lands at Kala Patthar at the altitude of 5545 m, the best vantage point for close-up views of Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks—and continues to Gokyo Lake, a stunning glacial lake system nestled at 4,790 m. After capturing these breathtaking sights, the journey includes a leisurely breakfast stop at Everest View Hotel (3880 m) before returning via Lukla to Kathmandu. FAQs

Of course, in all seasons except the rainy one, we organize Everest Base Camp with the Kalapattar landing flight for visitors. However, it depends on the weather.

The Everest base camp helicopter tour price varies significantly. It depends on group size; however, we organize on a sharing basis, so the cost will be US$ 1200 to 1300 for a private charter. It also depends on inclusions like landing at Everest Base Camp or breakfast at the Everest View Hotel.

The helicopter flyover at Everest base camp is for 5 to 10 minutes only. It depends upon the weather pattern, busyness, and activeness at Everest base camp. It will be full of tents for different groups during the main season for climbing. Staying longer is not possible because of altitude.

Of course not. Commercial flights overfly Kalapathar and Everest Base Camp, not the summit of Mount Everest, after acquiring special permission; it also depends on the weather and best view areas, where it sometimes could be hard to fly while windy, and cloudy situations might bother the flight. But we will try our best to fulfill your desire and dreams from our side.

Of course, weather plays an important role in the helicopter tour, mainly during the landing and takeoff period. Weather on Mount Everest is hard to predict; we call local people and get a live update. During monsoons, it might be affected, but usually, the early morning flights are beautiful.
