Overview

The Langtang Gosaikunda trek is one of the best and most adventurous treks in Nepal, which starts from a short drive from Kathmandu. It combines the remote and spectacular valley of Langtang with the high mountain lakes at Gosainkund. Visit the beautiful Langtang National Park and then trek to the end of the valley to view the wonderful mountains and local villages. Following the Trisuli River on the north side of Kathmandu, drive from Kathmandu to Trisuli Bazaar and Dhunche, and then arrive at Syabrubensi, a Sherpa village located at the very edge of the Langtang National Park, your dream trekking start point. Every day you will pass through the jungle with oak and rhododendron forests and even cross glacial moraine on our way to the Tamang village of Langtang.

The Langtang Gosainkunda trek passes by the sacred lakes at Gosainkund and the Laurebina pass (4610 m). Trek down to Dhunche (gateway of the Langtang Trek) and drive back to Kathmandu. The trails ensure you see the magnificent mountain view and have the pleasure of meeting the Tamang and Sherpa community—their kindness and hospitality are well renowned for trekking in Nepal. During your trekking trails to Langtang Gosainkunda, we provide the best accommodation at tea houses or lodges on a sharing basis; however, don’t expect luxury service while trekking to the Himalayas. Nepal Himalaya Tours has been smoothly organizing treks to the Langtang Region for the last 15 years.

How Difficult About Langtang Gosainkunda Trek?

Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is a Moderate trail in the Langtang region. It is suitable for passionate walkers who have the ability to walk at least 6 to 8 hours a day with a light rucksack. Walking in higher altitudes is more physically demanding than walking in the lower altitudes; however, if you are in excellent health with average physical fitness, have a positive attitude, and have strong determination, you can accomplish the trek successfully. Exercising and jogging regularly is a good idea to enhance our strength and stability. No previous trekking experience is needed for the Langtang Gosainkunda trek. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform us before booking the trips.

Accommodation and Foods

We will organize for you the best hotel accommodation in Kathmandu, and teahouse lodges will be used during the Langtang Valley trek. All accommodations are on a twin-shared basis. However, tea houses in some places only have shared washing and toilet facilities. Also note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and the trekking area at lower elevations, but it might be difficult to find them at higher elevations. So do not expect deluxe accommodation in the rural areas. However, we will provide you the best one available. You will have fresh Nepali foods during the trek; however, there are also Western and continental foods available. We don’t recommend taking those foods because they may have been stored for a long time, so traditional Nepali foods like dal bhat tarkari are the best while trekking. S

Best Time to Travel

Spring is the best season for adventure trekking in Langtand. March to May is characterized by blooming rhododendrons in the hilly area with amazing warm temperatures; it makes a visually stunning time for trekking and holiday tours in Nepal. The vibrant colors of the flowers against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains create a picturesque landscape that can fulfill your desire.
Autumn is another great time to explore the beauty of Himalaya for adventure holidays. From September to early December, it offers clear skies and sunny weather with warm temperatures and the best visibility of scenic mountain views. Trekkers may feel a magical atmosphere with comfortable temperatures during the autumn for holiday trekking or travel in Nepal.

Itinerary

There you will meet Nepal Himalaya Tour’s representative and be transferred to the hotel by private tourist vehicle. Overnight at a hotel.

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi, about 6-hour scenic drive by jeep. The scenery of foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabrubesi goes through the Trishuli Bazaar, Betrawati, and Dhunche. You feel as if you are heading towards deep land. While passing along the road at the bank of the Trishuli River, you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces, and green hills. At the evening stay at Bamboo.

The first part of the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. The trail slowly ascends up to Bamboo, passing through Landslide. Afterwards, we trek and ascend gently to Rimche (2400 m) through Bamboo, which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. We can have lunch at this place if we like. After lunch our trail is level to the Lama Hotel. En route you could see red pandas, monkeys & bears if we are lucky. Overnight at the lodge.

As we continue to walk, there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees. At Ghora Tabela (3000 m), the trail emerges from the forest. Once there was a Tibetan resettlement project here, but now here is a Nepalese army post, though it has no permanent residents. The trail climbs gently, the valley widens, and we pass a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery, which you can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang, the headquarters of the Langtang National Park. The houses of Langtang and its neighboring villages are of the flat-roofed Tibetan style, surrounded by stone walls enclosing fields of buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips, and barley, with an overnight stay at a lodge.

The trek climbs slowly through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become wider. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. Here are a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory. We will arrive at Kyangjin by lunchtime, allowing time to acclimatize and explore the village. It is a dramatic setting, with snow-covered peaks surrounding us in all directions, such as Langtang Lirung, Ganjala Peak, and Tserko Ri. Overnight at the lodge.

Today is to rest and explore the village. We can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the impressive ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung, or ascend Kyangjin Ri (4350 m), directly behind the village, for a breathtaking panorama of the Langtang peaks. Overnight at the lodge.

From Kyangjin we retrace our route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. After lunch, a slow steep drop to Lama Hotel. Overnight at lodge.

The beginning of the trails is a gentle descent up to Landslide and then goes steeply up to Thulo Syabru. En route we could see red pandas, monkeys, and various species of birds. Thulo Syabru is one of the wonderful villages. From there we can enjoy the amazing land feature and the magnificent nature with splendid views of Ganesh Himal (7110 m), Langtang Himal, and its ranges. Overnight at the lodge.

The trails from Thulo Syabru to Foprang Danda follow a steeply climbing path passing through Dursagang, along with the view of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan Mountain, and oak, hemlock, and fir forests. Now the path gently ascends for some distance and then follows a flat level to Sing Gompa. There are a well-managed local cheese factory and a Buddhist monastery. If time permits, we can enjoy a place that is recommended for having excursions in and around Sing Gompa, as it provides panoramic views, exciting nature, and a walk in and around the Yak Cheese factory. Overnight at the lodge.

The first part of the trails emerges gently, climbing up to Lauribinayak, and the top of Lauribinayak gives us an exotic feeling. Then the trails steeply ascend all the way to Gosaikunda. We follow a rugged trail to the west of Himal Chuli (7893 m), the Manaslu range (8156 mm), the Ganesh Himal range (7406 m), the Tibetan peaks, and Langtang Lirung. On a clear day, even the Annapurna range can be seen rising up behind, and to the north across the valley is Langtang Lirung. We pass a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebinayak, cross a small ridge, and have our first views of the holy lakes. There are about a dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda hand basin, the main three being Saraswatikunda, Bhairabkunda, and Gosainkunda. Overnight at the lodge.

The trails descend all the way to Sing Gompa, passing Lauribanayak with magnificent mountain views and forests with beautiful views. Overnight at the lodge.

The first part of the trail slides down through pine, silver oak, and rhododendron forests with marijuana plants up to where we cross a suspension bridge over the Sing Gompa Stream. Now the path stretches at a flat level through the village up to Dhunche. It is a small town and the headquarters of the Rasuwa district. Overnight at the lodge.

Early morning breakfast. Then you will drive back to Kathmandu through the road passing terraces, streams, rivers, local settlements, and high hills along the Trishuli riverside. It takes about 5 to 6 hours get the Kathmandu by private jeep. Evening farewell dinner with culture show.

After breakfast we transfer you to the airport 3 hours before your scheduled flight. We hope you enjoyed the Annapurna Base Camp trekking tour with us, and we are sure you will be back for a trip to the Nepal Himalaya next year with your friends.
